Overview
English for Academic Purposes takes place before you start your undergraduate or postgraduate degree programme. This is an assessed module and is designed to bring the participant's level of English to at least an IELTS of 6.5. You may not begin your programme of study while attending this course. The course concentrates on acquiring additional vocabulary that is unique to academic study and improving your listening, note-taking and understanding skills. Additionally, it will help you to understand life in a British higher education system, giving you the chance to get to know members of staff and your fellow students.
 
Programme Structure
This is a full time programme with 15 contact hours during the week. The duration of the programme is four months.

. Using the library and computer centre
. Using sources and references
. Academic reading skills
. Avoiding plagiarism
. Seminar participation
. Giving oral presentations
. Academic writing skills - essays and reports
. Grammar revision and development
. Vocabulary building
. Improving pronunciation
. Discussion techniques
. Examination techniques
The teachers will use a variety of different styles and will ask you to work both individually and in groups with other students. This is in order to introduce you to the kinds of teaching and projects that you will encounter during your studies in Britain.
 
Entry Requirements
The programme is designed for students who have an IELTS score of 5.5 and above. Students who need an intensive brush up of their Academic English skills are also encouraged to take admission in this programme prior to commencing their degree studies.

Deposit: Since the EAP programme is free, the deposit for the MBA/BA(Hons) following EAP is the same as mentioned on the fee sheet for MBA/BA(Hons).
